The gig economy in China

Precarious work and future careers in the context of the gig economy in South Africa and China - New British Academy project led by Lesley Doyle

We are very pleased to announce a new British Academy award, Precarious work and future careers in the context of the gig economy in South Africa and China, with CR&DALL Core Member, Dr Lesley Doyle, as Principal Investigator. Her co-investigators are Professor Lauren Graham, the University of Johannesburg and Dr Geng Wang, University of Tianjin. Dr Wang recently completed her PhD under Dr Doyle’s supervision. It is one of 49 projects funded under the  Humanities and Social Sciences Tackling Global Challenges programme.

Learning and Living in Diverse Communities

"Learning and Living in Diverse Communities" was the theme of the conference that took place in the House of Civic Communities in the city of Pécs, Hungary, in June 2019. It was the 11th conference which the specialized network on “Between Global and Local – Adult Learning and Communities” of the European Society on the Research for the Education of Adults (ESREA) has been organizing ever since 2006.

ASPBAE publishes statement on COVID-19 highlighting vulnerable groups

The COVID-19 pandemic has a strong impact on all of us in the field of education and lifelong learning. For adult learning and education and related institutional settings like Adult Education or Community Learning Centers it is extremely difficult as their transformation into the on-line and digital world of learning is not possible without respective financial backing and professional expertise. ASPBAE, the Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education, has just published a Statement with a situation analysis and recommendations for support.
